The Premier Artist Festival started this week at Daz. So far, I have gotten the Genesis 8 Centaur Pro Bundle and Centaur Maxx, who has amazing looking skin textures. I am excited to try his skin out on a G8F figure by using Slosh’s UV swapper. With the special 20% stacking discount, I bought some things on the first few days. However, the regular discounts are not really compelling enough for additional purchases. Hopefully they will introduce more special sales as the festival progresses, especially for older items.
August was primarily a month of coupons. There were some great coupon freebies, as well as stacking coupon discounts, which are a big favorite of mine. As a result, I got a bunch of HDRi’s by Orestes Graphics, including Autumn Creek, Vigil Creek Falls, and more. I find many of their HDRi environments to be very useful in creating my fantasy renders.
In addition, I was also able to get some of my wish-listed hairs at a very good price. SWAM’s Mystical Hair and Vivacious Hair quickly went into my cart as well as OOTs awesome MEGA Updo Hair and Adeline Hair (looks like a great one for elven renders!).
Some other items I got in August that I am excited about –
- Behemoth HD for Genesis 8 Male – This guy is totally bad-ass and his textures and horns are amazingly cool.
- DGV_Modular Sofa & Props – Great for creating modern indoor and pin-up scenes. A great variety of props and I especially love the very realistic looking materials.
- Basic Corset Lingerie Set – Very sexyful! Going to be using this one in my next fantasy image idea.
- Spider Bot Mech – Another unique and creative model by The AntFarm. Always love their fun and original ideas.
- Wicked Sorceress Poses – Can always use a good set of dynamic spell-casting poses! π
September 2019 Contest Vendors
In honor of the Premier Artist Festival, you get to pick your own favorite vendor this month! Is there a vendor whose items you use over and over again? If so, then now is the time to feature them, and show-off what can be done with their great models, shaders, poses, morphs, and more.
For September, simply pick ONE favorite Daz3D vendor. All your entries for the month will then need to contain at least one item from their store. For example, my favorite vendor for September is Orestes Graphics, so all my renders include at least one item by them. Please clearly state your featured vendor as well as the featured item from their store.
NOTE – Daz Originals and RuntimeDNA, CANNOT be chosen as a featured vendor because they are a collection of artists. However, it is totally fine if they are one of the artists in your featured item. For example, if my featured item is made by both Orestes Graphics and Daz Originals, that is totally acceptable.

Images with the newly released Gabriela 8, and Diego 8 will also qualify.
September contest entries.
1st Place – The Mean Streets
Artist – Stalest
Brilliant storied scene with great characters, lighting, and effects.
Such a cool and rich scene. The main characters are awesome, especially the modern centaur officer. Definitely a fantastic feature of Solar Wardens for Genesis 8 Male Centaur, which has now gone into my wishlist. Terrific poses and expression, with the robot girl definitely looking worried as she looks at the officer over her shoulder. Busted!
Wonderful use of such a variety of vehicles by Petipet. Car Edi is marvelously featured in the foreground, while the other vehicles of different shapes and sizes enrich the backdrop with movement, detail, and fun.
The lighting is amazing, with rich saturated colors that even get reflected off the falling rain and puddles on the ground. Even though there is a lot going on in the scene, you are able to bring forth the main characters through your masterful use of light and color. A magnificent work of art.
The judges also liked Cornered. Another interesting story being told here, with terrific Petipet features, a rich environment, and incredible lighting.
2nd Place – Enchantress
Artist – Karibou
Beautiful, stylish, and dynamic.
The thumbnail, focused on her face, caught my eye right away. She is stunning, with her porcelain skin and dark red lips. The unique camera angle and pose further enhances the image.
Fabulous work with combining so many different hairs together to create something original, dynamic, and that perfectly fits her face. I also love the circlet and arm jewelry, which goes very well with Arki’s dForce Mosaic Outfit. The movement of her shoulder cloth, consistent with her hair, is a marvelous touch.
Excellent unsaturated palette. Her mostly white outfit fits wells with her alabaster skin and the white architecture of the backdrop. Extra bonus points for using multiple items from your featured vendor.
She has definitely enchanted us all.
3rd Place – Now Thats A Face
Artist – BronzeDragon
Very arresting image!
The skin texture looks incredible, as does the tattoos and eye material. Furthermore, the lighting perfectly brings out the details on her whole face. Fabulous feature of Nyo Hair by Crocodile Liu. It frames her face perfectly and I like how it blends into the black background.
A fascinating and intense portrait that is difficult to look away from.
3rd Place – Fox Princess Miyu
Artist – SumoPanda
Another superb image featuring Crocodile Liu. They certainly have some great looking characters and this fox girl is one of my favorites. She has an adorable face and the furry ears are perky and delightful.
Hanfu Dress looks charming on her, and the blue of her hair, tail, and ears contrast well with the red of her outfit. The bamboo forest provides a marvelous backdrop, and the playful red fox add movement and fun to the piece.
Brilliant use of an unsaturated color palette to give it a cool Asian style. Absolutely love it!
Honorable Mentions
Survivor’s Guilt by Storypilot
Amazing scene!
I especially love the lighting, with a wonderful mix of cold and warm colors. The glow from the fireplace is lovely, bathing the characters in warm light and reflecting off the puddle on the ground.
Fabulous character designs. She definitely looks like she has been through quite a lot, and has been stitched up many a time. The little man doing the stitching is perfectly cast, with his glasses, shoeless feet, and mostly bald head. He seems experienced and intent on his labors.
Terrific details such as the bits of hair on the ground, stiff drink, mixing bowl, and sword propped up against the bed. All these add depth to the story and scene.
Lady And Her Bird by kadaj777
What a beautiful image.
The lady is gorgeous, with thick brown hair cascading down her shoulders, perfectly framing her delicate features. Lorelle Gown looks lovely on her, and the circlet is a nice touch.
The little blue bird is my favorite. He looks so realistic, and his light blue and yellow colors contrast well with the saturated reds and browns of his graceful companion.
Cat Queen is another judge favorite. A very sleek looking beauty with some sleek looking friends.
Fridge Mouse by scorpio
Haha! Such a clever and funny scene.
Love the pose and expression of the cute little mouse. He definitely knows that he has been naughty. You did an amazing job with the food props around him, especially in depicting the mess that he made. The broken eggs, bits of food strewn about everywhere, cream coming out of the can, half eaten sandwiches, all add humor to the scene and helps tell the story.
