June’s biggest Daz-news is of course the release of Genesis 8 and Victoria 8. I must admit that when I first saw Vicky 8, I was not very impressed. The images of her just didn’t grab me, and I was thinking of waiting several months for there to be a bigger sale.
However, there later came an orange banner with extra discounts, and vendors seem to be adopting the new Genesis rather quickly, so I decided to make the jump. Now that I have used her in several images, I must say that I am growing to like her very much.
- Her facial expressions are superb. Together with the Power Pose system, I can easily make additional tweaks to her look.
- Love the better muscle bends on Genesis 8.
- She uses Genesis 3 Base Female UVs, so all skins that I have been using will transfer over. Skins that I converted from V4 into G3F (with the Blacksmith Texture Transformer) can also be used. YAY!
- There is already a pose converter to transfer G3F poses into G8F.
- Redz has also come up with a great way for converting G3F morphs over to Genesis 8 – HERE. Here is more on how to bring ear morphs over.
- Most of all, Victoria 8 looks very realistic, much more so than any of the previous Victorias. You can clearly see this by checking out the Genesis 3 or 8 store promo.

1st Place – Discovery

Absolutely love this composition. I can imagine flying on a carpet with my beloved Husky and I wouldn’t mind a dragon either. Maybe I will dream of this tonight – I hope so.
Excellent use of the Wish Granter Outfit by Nikisatez as well as AprilYSH’s flying Olenna Hair. The lamp is a great touch. I wonder where they are heading – somewhere bright and full of hope.
Below is another wonderful scene by Shozai that is rich in detail, whimsy, and wonder. Love all the butterflies and color.
This ethereal fairy girl is also a big favorite with the judges. Simply amazing work with light, pose, environment, and post-work. Bravo on all these magical images!
2nd Place – Don’t Cry Sis

Marvelously touching piece. It is always a challenge to portray grief and crying in 3D-art, but you have done an outstanding job here with the expression, tears, poses, and composition.
I especially love the soft lighting effects, and the more muted environment helps the foreground elements to really stand-out. Fabulous use of Geneva Hair by AprilYSH. I love it that both sisters are wearing the same hair, yet there are fantastic contrasts between them.

3rd Place – Archer Woman

Superb dramatic lighting, pose, and camera work!
The high contrast lighting is especially compelling, and draws the eye right away. The strong pose, low saturation, and camera angle all work together to further enhance the raw power of the piece.
Terrific character and fine use of Chace Hair by AprilYSH. This would also make an awesome promo for KillZombie HuntingBows, which looks totally wicked in this composition. Definitely made me add it to my wishlist.
3rd Place – Little blue bird

A very striking picture!
Gorgeous colors and brilliant character design. Love the feathers coming out of her back and that intricate Asian tattoo, which matches very well with the character and little blue bird.
Wonderful use of Thian Hair by AprilYSH, showing off its excellent movement capabilities and it also fits perfectly with the lady. Amazing work!
3rd Place – The Messenger

Wow! Love the two characters, fantastic poses, and superb integration with Ron’s Birds. Her smile is lovely, and Elleth hair looks perfect on her. Great horns and earrings as well.
Marvelous expressions and eyes on both characters. They look so happy and alive together.

I love how both the girl and her best furry friend are not only in the same pose, but also have the same expression. Such a terrific peaceful look.
I hope Saiyaness will create some LAMH presets for the Hivewire big cat too. For those who have missed it, Saiyaness just created some excellent free LAMH presets for the HiveWire House Cat.

I also love the lighting and warm colors, which draws the eye to the cute little blue bird. The girl is terrifically unique, with a very fun face and expression. Lulu Outfit is a perfect fit for her!

Hahaha, this is brilliant!
Fabulous work with the girl. She has awesome skin texture, the outfit is adorable, and great touch with the braces. The blue backpack is also very well done, giving her left arm and back definition. Amazing feature of Udderly Fresh Dairy Set by Capsces Digital Ink. AprilYSH’s Geneva Hair also suits her very well.
Such a cool idea and outstandingly executed.
