Since December was so crazy, I took it nice and easy in January. There were some great deals though that were too tempting to resist. One that stands out is the 20% gift card sale with an added $30 bonus on Daz Originals that we got yesterday. In addition many items were selling at 50% off, so I was able to get The Outpost Bundle (that I have been eyeing for a while now) for over $1. It is an awesome bundle with a cool looking tank, some high-quality, detailed guns by Polish, and useful bunker props.
I also picked up a few additional wishlist items that were on discount. I am especially excited about Chinese Temple Gate by The AntFarm. They have some great sets and unique characters. I used the Jungle Water Temple, recently, and absolutely love the results.
In addition, I got the Trash Polka tattoo set by ShanasSoulmate. This set looks totally bas-ass and I like the limited black and red colors.
There were also some great vendor sales in January. During one of these, I came across Wren for Teen Josie 8 by Silver. Somehow, I missed this cute morph as it was not even in my wishlist. Into the cart it went! 🙂
Another character that I have always loved is Aiko 6. So during a SloshWerks sale, I bought Genesis 2 Legacies for Genesis 3 Female: Classics. I then transferred the morph to G8F using Redz’s morph transfer method. It is not a perfect transfer, and there is some weirdness, but I am happy to have an Aiko 6 look-alike in Genesis 8.
Last but not least, I grabbed the two recent effects package by KindredArts – Iray Blizzard and Iray Storm. They will be fun to experiment with in the coming weeks.

1st Place – Rogue in the Rain
Artist – Storypilot
What an amazing scene!
I especially love the environment and lighting. Superb job in combining The Streets of Tuscany and Island Castle to create a unique fantasy town. The rainy, dark mood is expertly executed using Iray Storm and Ron’s Fog II. It is further enhanced by the limited color palette, and dark, gray buildings.
Excellent use of light and glow to bring out the rogue figure up front, and to highlight the other activity going on in the background. The additional figures really add to the richness and authenticity of a town-type environment. Everything works perfectly together to weave a rich and intricate tale around the viewer.
Looks like a professionally drawn poster or book cover. Outstanding work!
The judges also loved Dragon’s Lair. Another storied scene with great attention to detail.
2nd Place – Apocalyptic Symphony #2050
Artist – SumoPanda
Awesomely creative and spectacularly executed!
A totally brilliant and captivating image. The red robot playing the cello seized my attention right away. Then, I notice the other two beside him, and the big ass robot standing behind them with a really big gun. The title is perfect, as is the addition of flakes/ash, which underscores the apocalyptic mood.
I imagine the music to be majestic and terrifying, the sound of an old world ending and the birth of something new. The little B-Bot MC is another fabulous touch.
Marvelous lighting and color palette. The dark blues in the background help to bring out the red robot and orange shirted B-Bot in the foreground. I also like the warm spotlight on them and the other environmental effects.
Incredible work!
3rd Place – Faries
Artist – Jewel Designs
A charming and magical image!
I especially love the little flying unicorn. You did a wonderful job integrating Fabiana’s wings onto him and color-coordinating him with the little girl. Great interacting poses as well. They make a delightful pair. 🙂
Terrific feature of dForce Vernea Fae Outfit by SloshWerks. It is realistic, with fantastic draping sleeves, and is ideal for a fairy girl.
Cuteness Overload is another judge favorite. She is adorable with her painted nails, sunglasses, and rose hat. This redhead is going to be trouble with a capital T.
3rd Place – A Woman And Her Horse
Artist – RobF4
Marvelous pin-up with amazing textures!
Love the pose of Sydney 8 and the horse’s closed eyes, as he enjoys this special moment of intimacy. The detailed textures really stand-out especially on the horse, human skin, and jeans. I like the torn up jeans fabric, which together with her bare back and posture, gives her a very sensual look.
An outstanding image that is both sexy and loving.
Honorable Mentions
The Final Winter… by Carola O
Superb concept, poses, effects, and camera work.
Death is brilliantly portrayed as a dark, mysterious specter. I like that you cannot see his face, just his unnatural hand reaching out to the man on the ground. Clever use of dForce Monk for Genesis 8 Male(s) in this context.
The light rays shining behind him are also a great touch. They provide a good contrast to his dark form, but also give him a heavenly aura. Together with the lamp, he comes across as more of a guide rather than something inherently sinister or evil.
Fantastic feature of Iray Snow, Ice and Ash by KindredArts. It provides the perfect mood for piece, and accentuates Death as something cold, dark, and silent.
Feathered Friends by Faeofthe3rdDimension
What a delightful image!
I have always loved Silver’s Fawna for Genesis 3 Female(s) character, and you gave her an infectious and lovely smile. When I look upon this picture, I feel like smiling too.
Wonderful addition and posing of the birds on her antlers. Their beautiful and varied colors contrast well with Fawna’s brown skin. They also bring additional charm and wonder to the piece.
Bunker Front (retro) by dtrscbrutal
Very dramatic shot!
Excellent use of camera and lights to create tension and anticipation in the scene. The zoomed in view, bright spotlight, and atmospheric rays, make the viewer feel like they are a part of the action. Yikes! The sheriff is coming for us!
Marvelous poses and expressions, plus I like having the shield up front, framing the policeman’s eyes. Finally, Antfarm’s KillZones The Alley Way is an ideal backdrop for the image.
The judges also enjoyed Tropical Dream. Gorgeous girl, pose, and environment.
Solo by JoJoS
Outstanding details in this piece.
I especially love the building behind her. The stone wall, wooden door, and metal fittings are all highly detailed and realistic. Sloshwerk’s ficus tree is also wonderfully featured, with the same high detail and realism.
The single red rose next to the girl is a nice touch, accenting the type of music she is playing.
