January started with some great sales on some of my favorite vendors including Stonemason, The AntFarm, and esha. This allowed me to pick up many items that have been on my wishlist. 🙂
After the first week or so though, things seemed to slow down. On the one hand, that is a good thing because December has been very tough on my pocket book. However, my Daz geek side also wishes there were better sales on 2017 top items. Last January, many of the top previous year’s items were going at Fastgrab prices or better.
One thing that I have been having a lot of fun with though, is dForce. I have been applying it to many older v4 outfits, especially dresses, and now they work a lot better with the newer Genesis figures. Suddenly there are all these cool new outfits that I can use with Genesis 8 or Genesis 3!
EcVh0 very recently came out with a product on how to do this more simply with dForce Master – Cloth Simulation Presets.

1st Place – Find Me
Artist – Shozai
Superb composition with a sweet story, fabulous realism, and beauty everywhere.
Just an amazing feature of Stonemason’s Willow Creek. Excellent scene depth and use of DoF. I love the wolf in the background, as well as how the leaves of the willow tree drape over the girl and frames her face.
She is gorgeous, with her pale skin contrasting well with her dark hair and makeup. Fantastic job on her skin, which is nicely detailed and realistic. A magnificent work of art!
Nicoles Garden is another brilliant and unique scene. It features The Private Garden perfectly, with terrific glow effects, lighting, as well as camera work. The little fairy girl is an awesome touch.
My personal favorite is Sleepless. The little bear is totally adorable and I enjoyed seeing Misty River Gorge at night. It is also a marvelous contrast piece to the two other daytime pieces.
Sensational work all around!
2nd Place – Cleansing The Soul
Artist – mugzie101
Incredible camera angle to show-off Stonemason’s Misty River Gorge to great effect.
The girl is graceful and lovely, but also pensive and a bit sad. One wonders what she is thinking, sitting by herself on her high perch. The flying eagle is splendid as he spreads his wings, adding some wonderful movement to the image.
I also love Meditate, with its warm sunset colors, flying birds, and peaceful mood. Absolutely stunning work!
3rd Place – Angel in the City
Artist – Quantic Dementia
Delicate and charming!
The angel girl is elegant in her white lace outfit and pale hair. Her wings are beautifully done with outstanding detail and lighting. I love the unsaturated color palette, and how she is perched on an older baroque building amid Stonemason’s modern urban environment.
What is she pondering as she surveys the swarm of humanity arrayed below?
The judges are also very impressed with The Violinist. Another exquisite piece with an unsaturated palette and tranquil setting. The wolf is fantastic, as is the lighting and dynamic hair. Marvelous feature of The Heart Of The East.
Honorable Mentions
Dragonlord by Ferretmania
What a superb dragon-lord!
Owen 8 looks fierce and dashingly handsome in that Chevalier Armor. Given that it was designed for Genesis 3 Males, it fits extremely well on Genesis 8. It also has great materials and detail.
I also enjoyed the bad-ass ninja girl in Ready. Another fierce character with awesome detailed clothing and a cool dagger fan. Wonderful misty environment wreathing The Streets Of Asia in mystique and secrecy.
Dragonflies II by Stormlyght
Terrific and unique nature image.
I love the zoomed in camera view as well as the masterful use of depth of field. Fabulous image colors, with the pink and green of the dragonflies matching with the pink flowers and leaves of the water lilies.
Delightful feature of Stonemason’s Willow Creek.
Orcs!! by kadaj777
Fantastic looking elf character and picture mood.
Owen 8 looks perfect as an elf, and Super Sleeky Hair is an excellent choice for him. I also like his expression, which cleverly conveys stress and anxiety as he hides in the long grass from orcs.
The glowing sword is a wonderful touch, catching the eye and providing an interesting focus in a darker scene. Did our elf steal it from the hunting orcs? I hope the glow does not give away his position.
You brilliantly conveyed the sense of danger and the feeling of being hunted, especially without showing even a single orc. Love it!
First Contact by klooless
Fabulous concept and superbly posed!
A child being kind to, and welcoming of those who are totally different from her. We are in sore need of that right now. The poses are incredible and convey a curiosity and lovely innocence in the child. Terrific combination of esha’s Grassy Grounds Megapack and Willow Creek, to create a magical backdrop for this special moment.
Beautiful, charming, and sweet.
