My favorite event last month has got to be the Build Your Own Bundle sale. I knocked a bunch of stuff from my wishlist, including several Linday items, the Wise Wizard Bundle that I have been wanting for a while now, as well as the very cool Tactical Belts by smay.
There were also a couple of group sales with good discounts, including one on lights/utilities and another featuring some of my favorite vendors. This allowed me to pick off some HDRi sets including Orestes Iray-HDRI Skydomes – Cassini and iRadiance HDR Resources – Hawaii. I also got IG Iray Dawn to Dusk 2 Atmospheric Lighting, which looks very cool from the promo images. I still need to test it out and compare it to the earlier atmospheric lighting product from Marshian.
For utilities, I got the ULTIMATE Grass & Meadow Worldbuilder. After some very initial experiments, I realized that it is probably best to go through the tutorial. So many things to try out, so little time. 😀
Finally, I do not want to neglect some of the awesome new products that got released in July. The few that stand out for me are –
- Musculature HD Morphs Bundle for Genesis 8 – I am a big fan of muscle definition, and xenic muscle morphs are always detailed and high quality.
- Axarra Headdress for Genesis 8 Female(s) – Wow! This fantasy headdress is super bad-ass, unique, and right up my alley. As usual from BadKitteh Co, it is also very detailed and realistic.
- Laura Hair with dForce for Genesis 3 and 8 Female(s) – This hair is too adorable!

1st Place – Deadly Impact

Amazing energy, effects, color, and everything else.
Love the dynamic nature of this image! Everything is imbued with intensity, from the fierce expression and pose of the alien girl, to the background vehicles and blast effects. Even the colors are vibrant and full of vitality.
Terrific use of Aureska Hol HD for Zelara 8. She looks totally bad-ass, especially with that light-saber and snarl. Linday’s Barbarian Warrior Outfit suits her perfectly, enhancing her wild and savage look. Marvelously unique warrior girl in a superbly bold and potent image.
Another big favorite with the judges is Five Of A Kind. Brilliant concept with magnificent characters, expressions, and scene elements. Outstanding feature of the Mama Legba Bundle.

2nd Place – A Soldiers Fatigue
Artist – Kibosh
Awesome mood and emotion expressed here. I especially love the lighting; how the main actor is illuminated by the fire but is surrounded by darkness. This underscores a feeling of isolation, as does his pose and expression. Excellent attention to detail, for example with his blood stained sword resting within easy reach.
A warrior, perhaps tired of war and all that it entails. As he stares into the fire, one can almost hear him pondering upon his past, his mistakes, accomplishments, and all those whom he has touched and who have touched him. A poignant and powerful piece.
The judges also love The Prize. Wonderfully creative story, dramatic lighting, and a fantastic choice of protagonist.
3rd Place – Shiba3DArt Entry: Anya n Sheen Close-Up

Fabulous action, effects, and monsters!
This is definitely an eye-catcher. The poses of the two girls are marvelous. Not only are they dynamic, but they are also interacting action maneuvers. Terrific surrounding monsters. Love the ones clinging on the ceiling and the one pushing his chest forward. 😀
Incredible work with the outfits, combining EnigmaRedux and Exoline Boots. Totally bad-ass!

Brilliant scene! Amazing details and story-telling elements.
This is an age-old tale of a talented but flawed pupil, returning to challenge his old master and mentor. The young vs. the old, the forces of good vs. those of evil, the sundering of the past and the creation of a new world order.
We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner; now I am the master.

Outstanding feature of Wise Sensei for Genesis 3 Male(s) and Way of the Shinobi for Genesis, both by Luthbel. The marionette is also very striking.
A powerful scene that is exciting, moving, and very impressive.

Warrior Despair by SmR
Wow! Incredibly expressive with dramatic lighting and atmosphere.
The unsaturated colors, deep shadows, volumetric light, and fire motes, create a potent and poignant mood. One can feel the warrior’s deep sorrow and hear his long primal scream pierce the dark night, as the pieces of ash fall upon him like snow.
Great use of the Dragonsbane Barbarian Bundle by Luthbel. The details on this set go well with the Kadis set on his companion.

Haha! That is a super bad-ass Mabel!
I can almost see the big scraggly dog sitting beside her and growling at whomever is blocking their path. She is tough and strong, but with a very big heart. A wonderful heroine for a post-apocalyptic story.

Very dramatic image!
The darker background make the white wings totally stand out, and the details on them look fabulous. Then, the viewer’s eyes are drawn to the mysterious girl, with jewels in her hair and an exotic dress.
Who is she? Where does she come from? Why is she leaving? Makes for a striking ending.
