I am a very big fan of dragons, so the July DAZ highlight for me has got to be Crystal Dragon for the Daz Dragon 3. Super love the skin detail and all those crystal shards coming out of his body. A very cool design! There were also some fabulous tools and poses that came out with the Crystal Dragon, so I was a happy camper. In addition, July also marked the start of the new Game of Thrones season, so even more dragon awesomeness!
In addition to all that dragon goodness, there was also a nice Stonemason sale. Every time there is one, I always pick up several items on my wishlist, and this time I got Abandoned : Home Sweet Home and Urban Sprawl 3.
August 2017 Contest Vendors
In honor of these wonderful items, here are our three featured vendors/items –
The newly released Olympia 8 will also qualify.
1st Place – Hatchling
Artist – RLove
Absolutely love the little dragon. He reminds me of Simba in the Lion King – with his little fire roar. 😀
His companion is also superb. Her pose may be one of calm obedience, but that saucy look says otherwise. The different colored eyes further adds to her mystery. Fabulous use of Crystal Dragon for the Daz Dragon 3 together with Stonemason’s Streets Of Asia 3: Courtyard, which provides the perfect backdrop.
An intriguing image, with fantastic depth and attention to detail.
Defender is another big favorite with the judges. Very Sucker Punch-esque with another bad-ass female lead with her trusted dragon companion. Marvelous expression, pose, highlights, and textures.
Definitely check out Rlove’s gallery for many more of their awesome entries and artwork.
2nd Place – At the Shooting Range
Artist – knaakie
Hahaha, this is brilliant! Creative, full of humor, and wonderfully lighted. It is also a terrific feature of Stonemason’s Sci-Fi Kit 2016, showing off its great versatility and amazing lighting capabilities. This is one that I haven’t gotten yet, but it is definitely in my wishlist now.
The Last Guard is another outstanding piece, and one of my personal favorites. Love the combination of skeleton and cyborg, as well as cap and cigar. Incredible concept, materials, and lighting.
3rd Place – Spring
Artist – Plaiades
Magnificent Goddess of Spring!
The butterflies flying around her and her streaming hair adds cool movement to an already excellent image.
3rd Place – Cuddle Bugs
Artist – mugzie101
This is absolutely adorable!
Interacting poses are always difficult to do well, but the dragon and cat look amazing here. The sleepy expressions are perfect, especially the half open eye on the Raptor. Peaceful and heartwarming.
The one with the long haired cat on the Raptor’s head (Hitchhiker) is also very cute and funny! 😀 I love both very much.
3rd Place – Winter-Wolves
Artist – heavenleedesigns
Wow! A fabulous depiction of family love, and another piece with interacting figures that are incredibly posed.
Brilliant use of DA Let it Snow to turn Stonemason’s woods into a winter wonderland. I thought it was a totally new environment! Also love the softness of the image, which gives a great look to the wolves’ fur.
If only more families were like this one.
Fantasy art at its best!
The Crystal Dragon looks marvelously bad-ass here, with the added fiery mouth, dripping saliva, and glowing red eyes. Wonderful texture on the dragon, and I love how he naturally blends in with the surrounding crystal rocks. The Kadis outfit is perfect for this dragon’s gorgeous companion.
Awesomely creative and beautifully rendered.
I love the combination of a toon figure with Stonemason’s realistic Abandoned : Home Sweet Home. Everything fits well together, the lighting is fantastic, and the scene is peaceful with charming details.
If we listen closely, we can hear the little frogs croaking as they hop across the wooden floor.
You create an outstanding environment of palpable fear.
One can almost feel her labored and anxious breathing, as the unseen baddie rampages on the other side of the wall. The blood spatters and amorphous shadow at the door, really ratchets up the sense of danger and impending doom.
Terrific choice in using Stonemason’s Level 19 as the backdrop. The smoke coming out of the floor grate is another great touch, giving the scene a spooky atmosphere.
Fabulous creepy mood!
Excellent pin-up girl and pose! Really makes me want to get Raiya’s Anna, as she looks fantastic here.
Cool feature of Stonemason’s Under the Overpass, and its pattern of light and shadows. In this way, we can see the shape of things, which hooks us in to zoom and focus on the finer details.
