Daz March Madness is definitely full of fun this year. There were some great new products and I also picked up many wishlist items. I love the different and special deals throughout, which made the whole event lively and interesting. Because things kept changing though, I missed out on some really good sales, either because I bought items too early or waited until it was too late. But I suppose getting the timing right is part of the fun! 😀
The Elysa Bundle really stood out for me, and I got it right away. OOT hairs are always super realistic and I love this particular hairstyle with its mix of braids and long straight hair. It is very suited for the type of fantasy pieces that I do, but also versatile enough to be used for other genres.
Two other great hairs that I got are Side Layered Messy Hair and Lori Hair for Genesis 3 and 8 Female(s). Lori hair is absolutely adorable, and I used it on a Red Riding Hood character that I am very happy with. Will be trying out the Side Layered Hair as soon as I get some free time.
Another big favorite of mine is Fantasy Skins for Genesis 8. There are many different options, and I like that it can be easily applied to any skin. With this utility, I am able to significantly expand the types of characters that I can create.
Finally there are a few more items that caught my eye, including this very unique Carnivorous Plant. I think it will look great in a Poison Ivy render. 🙂 Skies of Gaia looks like a useful HDRi set. I have been looking for a mountains + sky set for a while now, so I can’t wait to try these out. Last but not least, Herschel Hoffmeyer’s Hell Creek Modules is detailed and versatile, so definitely a good tool to have in my backdrop toolbox.
April 2019 Contest Vendors
For April, we will feature some of our favorite March Madness artists.
Images with the newly released Bridget 8, and Mrs Chow 8 will also qualify.
1st Place – Synergy
Artist – 76Claudia2205
Captivating and creative!
This image catches the eye right away. The colors are vibrant, the poses are arresting, and the figure skins are awesomely cool. I especially like the emissive muscle lines on their bodies. Please let us know what item you used to produce those lines.
Perfect feature of Fantasy Skins for Genesis 8. Shows off the wonderful skin colors and the fabulous skin effects that can be achieved.
I also like the reflection on the ground, producing more symmetry, as well as the bright saturated background, which complements the figures perfectly. Amazing work!
2nd Place – Tunnel: Dropship
Artist – aograi
Fantastic lighting in this scene. I like that everything is mostly dark with a very strong light source coming from the dropship. This casts a backlight on the waiting mercenary girl wearing Herschel Hoffmeyer’s excellent Tactical Assault Outfit.
The effects are also incredible. Superb job on the rain, including the puddles on the ground as well as splashes of water and dirt around the landing zone. One can almost hear the roar of engines through the heavy downpour.
Marvelous job in painting a vivid picture of the story in the description.
3rd Place – Released
Artist – Shozai
Brilliant concept and beautifully rendered.
Terrific job with designing this bad angel, from her sinister black wings, to the scarred legs, and burning hot hands. I also love all the effects you integrated into the composition, especially the flames and fire veins on the ground. That she is holding molten fire is also super cool or hot. 😀
HP Kinsley is lovely. Her pose, as well as the red-black color combination of her outfit, wings, and hair, give her the perfect balance of sexiness, fierceness, and bad-assery. Definitely do not want to be nearby when she is … released.
3rd Place – Hold Her Closer
Artist – Shanarah
Wow! Such emotive artwork.
Amazing poses and expressions. She looks totally crushed, and I like how intense he is in helping to give her support. He listens, as she tearfully describing all her hopes, all that she did, but the ultimate failure of her mission.
3rd Place – Wild Forest
Artist – Storypilot
Awesome cool character and effects!
Love the bad-ass main character. He shows off the Cat World Regenesis HD – Lion morph to great effect. His outfit is superb, as is the skin detail with blood and scars.
Brilliant use of Iray FireWorx to create the fire effects and set a tense/dangerous mood for the composition. They also provide a strong back-light for our hero, making him look even more bad-ass. Very clever addition of lightning as the source of the fires.
A marvelous scene with a powerful story, character, and incredible attention to detail.
Love the bright, saturated colors, amazing smile, pose, and all those hearts. Makes me want to smile too. It is so good to see a purely joyful image.
Excellent feature of Lady Littlefox’s Precious Unicorn and wings from Precious Gryphon. I also like the tan and purple palette you used, as well as the cute little purple butterfly and hearts tattoo. Flutter-heart indeed! 😀
Such a beautiful piece with terrific atmosphere.
I can hear Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata playing, flowing gracefully like moonlight on her white dress.
She is exquisite, with a very alluring smile. I love the color palette you used in this piece, with a very colorful background that contrasts perfectly with the more neutral colors of human hair and skin.
Wonderful feature of Bast Hair by Lady Littlefox. The beads on her hair match thematically with those in the backdrop, but the differences in color, as well as depth of field, help separate the figure from the rest of the environment. Outstanding work!
What a lovely composition!
The poses and expressions are fantastic, with father cradling his sleeping child, wearing a very contented smile. Marvelous feature of babies Tobyn and Caryn, as well as their accompanying poses and morphs. I didn’t get the baby bundle when it came out, but your image has definitely made it very tempting.
